Recording of all forms of memorialisations on the site of the 2011 tsunami in a community of Northeast Japan. The practices recorded include the state/lay/religious ceremonies, rituals for the dead, preservation of material cultures, public spaces and personal biographies.

Building up an oral history of the life of the community prior and after the tsunami. This data collection is research is based essentially on qualitative date, video interviews with survivors, NGOs, scholars and city officials, all of which participate in the politics of memorialisation and reconstruction.
